Life outside the classroom is an important factor for a child’s wellbeing.  At La Garenne we take a holistic educational view and offer a variety of activities, which are sure to appeal.

After-school clubs provide the framework for extra-curricular activities, enriching each and every day. Club options reflect the children’s interests, providing opportunities to share passions, improve knowledge and skills.

Each child chooses his/her clubs, as this is the time of day to unwind and devote time to personal development. Students are challenged during their scheduled academic classes and this continues during their club time.  Chinese, Japanese, French, German and Spanish Clubs are on offer, as are private language courses in Portuguese, Russian and Italian.

Regular sports lessons are complemented by sports clubs, including Karate, Modern Jazz, Football, Basketball, Gymnastics and Swimming. Students interested in the Arts, enjoy Art Club, Drama, Film Club, Music Club and the annual school theatrical performances.

To encourage students to be ‘all-rounders’, they may participate in Cooking, Reading, Chess, Private Study, Horse Riding, pursue individual Skype lessons and follow programmes tailored to personal requirements. Clubs play a vital role in helping students’ progress further with their language skills and bolster self-confidence, not to mention the fun aspect!

Games Club

It is important that the students are allowed the time for fun and games. With a busy schedule during the day with classes, meal times and extracurricular activities, the students don’t always have the opportunity of being ‘just children.’ This means allowing them the time to run around and play together, sometimes in organised games periods, sometimes as free time which is supervised. The social skills develop greatly during these periods as do their own characters. It is important to allow a child to be a child and have the time to play games, run around and laugh with their friends!
