Summer camp is a place where campers from all around the world meet together to create memories, discover new cultures, learn languages, learn to socialise and to share, and finally discover the beauty of Switzerland. The beginning of the year 2020 created an unprecedented event and therefore we had to remain very flexible. We believe more than ever the children and teenagers need to have a break from their devices and to reconnect with nature.
With over 73 years of experience, we have learned a lot from the past. Therefore, we have had to make changes in the organisation of the summer camp 2020 to ensure safety and fun for the campers.
Do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org concerning any further requests you may have. We look forward to welcoming your child(ren) this summer.
The situation in Switzerland has been very stable for the last few weeks and the Federal Council has eased its measures further. Please read the latest information here. Our main priority is the safety of the whole community and therefore please read carefully our COVID-19 protocol which we will continue to adapt.
A quick view of the changes we made, for further details please read our COVID-19 protocol:
- All the staff/students will be tested for Covid-19 before their arrival at the school
- There are no quarantine measures to enter the country
- The borders will reopen from June 15th
- We have 24/7 medical care on campus
- Extra cleaning is planned throughout the school
- No visitors will be allowed on the campus
- Reduce the number of campers in the rooms and during group activities
2. Europa Park
We have made the decision to cancel our trip to Europa Park in Germany for the summer 2020 and to postpone it to summer 2021.
3. C.F. Valencia
We have made the decision to cancel our football camp with C.F. Valencia for the summer 2020 and to postpone it to summer 2021.
The campers will have this summer the opportunity to choose from a variety of exciting morning activities such as cooking, robotics, yoga, tennis, football or to take part in our French or English Language clubs. This year the language clubs will have a different approach with an emphasis on learning through verbal and communication.
Most of our activities will be outdoor and turned to nature. We will do our best to ensure as many activities as possible will run. Please note that some activities are subject to change due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

The school telephone line can be very busy and we recommend that every child brings an electronic device for communication. Campers must not bring computers.
At check-in, all electronic devices (such as mobile telephones, iPads, iPods and tablets) are to be handed to the member of staff. The child(ren) will have access to them only during Family Times. Please make sure the name of your child(ren) is written on the device, as well as on each cable, charger, additional accessories and headphones (the use of headphones will be obligatory. Make sure your child brings its own).
The IT department will need access to the devices in order to connect to the internet, please make sure you inform the staff member of the passcode for each device along with their username and password for your chosen service (Skype, WeChat, WhatsApp, FaceTime, Viber). This will help to avoid connection difficulties.
During Family Times you will be able to contact your child(ren) via their electronic device (iPad, iPhone, mobile phone, etc.) using the voice call or video services (Skype, WeChat, WhatsApp, FaceTime, Viber). If your child(ren) is/are unavailable on the their device, please contact the school line +41 (0) 24 495 24 53. If you are unreachable during the Family Times, let us know in advance and we will organize another time for you to speak with your child(ren).
To avoid additional costs related to “Data roaming”, please be sure to set the telephone's settings to off for this option. This is the parents’ responsibility.
The child(ren) will be allowed to use their device ONLY during the following times:

Once again this year, we are happy to offer the parents digital photo memories of their child(ren)'s stay at La Garenne. These are taken by our professional photographer, Philippe Latour - who was a former student at La Garenne. A daily selection of photos will be published on our social media platform, we can not guarantee that every child will appear every day. Please inform the office in advance if you do not wish your child(ren) to appear on our social media or the school website.
The different options are: CHF 650.- for 50 pictures per stay (min. 4 weeks stay) CHF 400.- for 25 pictures per stay
You may have a look at the work of our photographer on this link.

The summer season can be chilly in the mountains so we kindly ask you to carefully follow the clothing list (do not forget some warm clothes).
For this summer, the campers will also need to bring:
- their own pencil case and stationary

Each label should have the first name of the child followed by the two first letters of the surname (example: John SM. for John Smith).
According to Swiss Law each student must have insurance covering illness and accidents. All students have been enrolled with the school insurance prior to arrival. For special cases, please don't forget to bring a copy of your current insurance.
The recommended amount of pocket money has already been charged to the parents’ invoice. We will make sure each child receives it in instalments during the stay. If you wish to leave additional money, you will be able to do so on arrival day.
For students celebrating their birthday during the camp, do not hesitate to let us know if you wish us to organise a special celebration (cake, gift, drink, etc.). If this is the case please contact email@example.com, the cost of this option is CHF 250.-
Prior to the start of the camp, we ask that you check your child(ren) carefully for head lice. Please inform the school if lice are found and if a treatment is already underway. All children will be checked again upon arrival and treated if necessary.
We are actively planning the next school year 2020-2021 and thrilled with the opening of Le Roc in September which will bring brand new facilities. There will have 3 new laboratories (Physics, Chemistry and Biology), innovative classrooms, a large conference hall, a new restaurant, a new gym, a dance studio and a large creative Art center. The students from MYP3 to MYP5 will have all classes in Le Roc and the MYP1 & 2 will join for some classes. We will also do some refurbishment in Academia in order to provide more space for our Primary students.
If your require any further details about the school year programme, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
