Library Services

Each part of the La Garenne campus has its own library. In the main teaching block for primary and younger middle school children, the library is a welcoming space for them to discover the joys of reading for pleasure and learning. At our Le Roc building, there are libraries on the ground and first floors.

These spaces are full of light and perfect for individual quiet study or learning support lessons. There are breath-taking panoramic views of alpine peaks, with study tables and well-organised shelves alongside a carpeted lounge area with sofas. The collection includes world literature - novels, picture books, comic books, myths and legends, poetry and plays - plus magazines, reference volumes and dictionaries.

Beyond the library itself, we actively encourage all our students to develop a love of reading. Supported reading happens in both the classroom during the day and in the boarding houses in the evening. For day students, a reading diary is filled in on a weekly basis. Library books are circulated around school, and any book a student needs for their studies can be acquired quickly.

Reading Cloud is an online reading community, linking real and virtual reading experiences to improve literacy standards and develop core reading skills. Students can search the catalogue to discover print resources and eBooks, all of which have been carefully selected to support the curriculum and to encourage reading for pleasure.
