The Ski Academy operates in partnership with Gryon Ski Club, to provide our students with professional instruction in alpine ski racing. Alongside children from the local community, they train and participate in 10 to 15 ski races each season. This is a wonderful opportunity to mix with other children as they face the challenges of physical training and ski racing. La Garenne School staff members supervise and are on hand to ensure each child receives appropriate support to ensure their progress and welfare. The Ski Academy delivers first class sports training, taking advantage of the expertise in this alpine community and exceptional local winter sports facilities. All students starting in MYP 1 or above, who have ‘Black Prince’ ski level, will automatically join the Elite group of the LGIS Ski Academy. They will participate in ski and physical training prior to the start of the official ski season (January to March). Every weekend, they will take part in different ski races (between 10 to 15), including the FIS race. Although Elite group members will have one physical training session per week, during the winter season, the students are strongly encouraged to train as much as possible during the December holiday. A full set of ski equipment is required for members of this team, which includes: two pairs of skis (one slalom + one giant) FIS Norm, one ski helmet FIS Norm, ski poles with protection, back protection, a ski suit with protection and a pair of ski goggles (with transparent and fog mask). Ski equipment and ski training prior to official season opening are not included and are an additional cost.
