The students will be competing in the annual Masterchef competion today, the 12th December. A popular competition, the students begin with a meeting concerning the rules, organisation and how the points are awarded. Once done, each team captain, a member of staff, will choose names from a bag, therefore, we never know who is in which group until we start! If your team is lucky, you may have students in the La Garenne cooking club who already have experience in cooking.

Each team has an envelope with CHF30.- in it to go shopping, buy ingredients and make a starter, main course and desert for one person. All the dishes will be judged at the allocated time with the students present. A trophy is awarded to each member of the winning team. We wish them the best of luck!

Last week has been as busy as usual! With the multitude of visits and activities in the boarding houses, the students have been very busy. The weather has allowed us to spend as much time as possible outside and the students were happy to make good use of the combination of sun and snow. We have been shopping for warmer clothes and new boots to allow the students to circulate with the huge snow fall we had. We look forward to another busy week.

With the Christmas period soon upon us, the children and the boarding staff are in full preparation for the festive period. Amongst many traditions at the school, we will have the special day we collect and decorate our tree as a family, followed by a Christmas film and cookies.We will also be preparing the Christmas carol singers for their Saturday performance and not to mention the Christmas party. This evening, the students have already started to choose their secret santa names when they will all exchange gifts with another student, in secret. 

It was wonderful to see so many smiley faces entering Academia this morning. The children were excited to be back at school and they were motivated to start the second half of the term. We enjoyed hearing all about their adventures over the holidays.

We have got a busy week planned for the children; the Reception and Year 1 & 2 class will be visiting Labyrinthe Aventure and a local farm with their teachers on Thursday and Friday while the Year 3 - Year 9 children will be exploring Europa Park. Let's not forget our Halloween Party for the whole school on Saturday, look out for some spooky photos next week!

Lisa and Simon enjoyed recording sentences for their story to help them to write them. The children have been practising their beautiful handwriting using a range of different media and in maths they have learned how to sort 2D shapes using Venn diagrams through practical and interactive activities.

Student council is a group of students elected by their peers. Our school council members will bring ideas, requests, and feedback to the meetings. Students who participate in student councils learn about the democratic process, leadership, problem solving and teamwork.

The student council is the voice of the student body.

Express Yourself

As part of Express Yourself week each class decorated their door based around the book they have been reading. The winning class was announced in assembly this morning - well done to Year 3 & 4!
