French with Year 5 & 6

This term we are learning about recycling; looking at how to manage the different types of rubbish, which materials go in which bins. We also talked about the energy created, like the strength of the water, the wind, the sun and from humans. The students watched a video about a man in Africa who was not happy to see people leaving their old tires in the street, so he opened a workshop to give a second life to these tires. He built for example an amazing table. The students in Year 5 & 6 had to make a presentation by giving a second life to these objects that should have ended up in the bin. Liza, Nana and Sven are going to share with you some really good ideas that you can try to do at home.

People Who Help Us

Last week, the Primary Assembly was all about People Who Help Us. It was International Nurses Day on Tuesday 12th May, in recognition of this we talked about Florence Nightingale and watched a video especially recorded for us by a nurse who works for the British Army. We learnt about her role and we talked about how we can show our solidarity to the medical staff around the world by applauding them at the same time every week. We finished the assembly by doing a live Kahoot Quiz, all about People Who Help Us.

Well done to Kamilla (Year 1), Lisa (Year 2), Ruairidh (Year 3), Beth (Year 4), Tony (Year 5), Elizaveta (Year 6) who won the Online Learner Certificate this week.

Well done children, we are proud of you!

On-line cooking class!

This weekend we held our first on-line international cooking club and it was a fantastic experience for all. The students received a list of ingredients and utensils required a week earlier and on Saturday, they all met up with Paula for their cooking club. After the club, the students sent in pictures of their cakes. A great experience for all and a big thank you to the parents who were also present to help some of the students!

On-line cooking!

With all the students at home for the moment, they have missed quite a few fun after school activities. Luckily they are able to continue in their home countries from time to time. We will though be holding our first on-line cooking class next week and the students will be able to participate in the course. There will be two schedules depending in which area of the world the students live. A list of ingredients etc, will be sent giving the students the time to prepare. We hope to have some photos for the next blog showing how the students gone on!
