Outdoor Education

Our outdoor programme is a vital component of our commitment to combatting nature's deficit, reconnecting students with the natural world, and fostering a profound appreciation for the outdoors.

In this programme, students have the opportunity to choose from four exhilarating activities: canyoning, via ferrata, mountain biking, and bridge swinging. These activities not only offer thrilling adventures but also instil a deep sense of environmental stewardship, as students engage with nature in its raw, unspoiled form.

Additionally, we also organise challenging expeditions that take students out of their comfort zones, fostering personal growth and resilience. During these expeditions, students sleep under the stars, surrounded by the pristine wilderness, allowing them to truly immerse themselves in the natural environment.

Alongside activities like mountain biking, paragliding, and hiking, these expeditions provide students with a unique opportunity to push their limits and develop essential life skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and self-reliance.

Weekend Activities

Our weekends here at le Roc are brimming with exciting activities that cater to diverse interests. For the thrill-seekers, there's the adrenaline-pumping mountain karting, wakeboarding and wakesurfing sessions, where students can ride the waves and improve their water sports skills. And for those in search of retail therapy, there's also shopping, where students can explore the local markets, shopping malls and boutiques.

Those looking for a different kind of adventure can take on the challenging ropes course, navigating obstacles high above the ground in a forest. For strategic minds, lasergame offers an exciting tactical experience that fosters teamwork and strategy.

Finally, relaxation awaits at a nearby swimming pool, walks in the nearby mountains and free time, providing a perfect way to unwind and socialise under the sun.

Our weekend activities ensure that there's something for everyone, fostering a sense of community and making weekends at our school memorable and fulfilling.

ECAs

MYP4 and MYP5 students have enthusiastically embraced extracurricular activities this term, with all of them committing to at least three ECAs. Notably, some students have gone above and beyond, signing up for as many as four activities. Although our DPs are asked to do at least one, many of them take two on a regular basis.

Exciting news on the sports front – we've introduced new offerings like padel tennis, and in November, we're set to host our inaugural international school padel tournament. Horseback riding, VTT, golf, dog walking, boxing and robotics have also captured our students' interests.

Our well-equipped gym has been buzzing with activity as our dedicated boarders rarely miss a workout. Additionally, students can choose from academic subject clinics, engaging creative activities, and charitable endeavours such as baking, with proceeds generously benefiting our favourite NGOs.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

On Friday 6th October 2023, M2 and M3 students gave their time to support the Commune of Ollon in removing fencing around the ski area in Bretaye ahead of the winter sports season beginning this year.

They worked efficiently and showed teamwork. Our guides were very impressed with their dedication to get the job completed. It was great to see our students interact with the local commune, as they got to practise their French communication skills as well.

We are working on more opportunities and community links in the coming terms, so that students can be proud of and feel fully part of the area in which they are growing up.

SCHOOL TRIPS

Our students enjoyed the thrilling roller coasters at Europa Park, the largest theme park in Germany.

They travelled by luxury coach arriving in Germany in the early evening ready for some serious fun at the water park Rulantica. The two-day trip was memorable for them, and they all had great fun!
